Meet Madrid & Gunny
After serving 4 years as a Corporal in the Marines, Madrid faced unforeseen challenges upon his return home. His own family pet, Gunny, became so much more than a four-legged friend -- as a certified service animal, Gunny became a pillar of support for the entire family.

At PetSmart Charities, we believe in the healing power of the human-animal bond. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Soldier's Best Friend, an Arizona-based nonprofit organization that provides U.S. military veterans living with combat-related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with Service or Therapeutic Companion Dogs, most of which are rescued from local shelters. The veteran and dog train together to build a trusting relationship that saves two lives at once and inspires countless others.
